NMP+ As Sub Sub Recipient
Before becoming a sub recipient, NMP+ was already operating as a sub sub recipient. We have been providing care and support services in the Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune since June 2007. CHAHA aims to improve care and support services to children with or affected by HIV, and help keep them with their parents or extended families.
Between the start of the project in 2007 and September 2009, we have helped 298 affected and 150 infected, a total of 448 children. We provide nutrition, education, opportunistic infection and psychosocial support. We also help their families with earning a livelihood. Other activities include World Orphan Day, Children’s Day and World AIDS Day activities for our children and families.
We maintain good linkages with government and local stakeholders, visiting their workplaces to sensitise them, then making referrals where appropriate. For instance, 20 children referred by us have been guaranteed at least one year coverage of all educational expenses from the Sakav Organisation. We also formed nine support groups implementing life skills education.
We currently have 3 staff and 10 outreach workers.
